Vacuum Breaks from MDC are engineered for use in vacuum transmission lines requiring electrical isolation while maintaining ultra-high vacuum (UHV) system integrity. These components are critical for safely separating electrical circuits within vacuum environments and are installed using precision methods such as TIG welding, laser welding, or electron beam welding.

To ensure optimal performance and seal life, thermal gradients must be limited to 25°C/min (45°F/min) during thermal cycling. Vacuum Breaks are bakeable up to 450°C (842°F) for short-term vacuum conditioning. However, extended exposure to high temperatures is not recommended due to the potential for corrosion of metal components.

While ideal for vacuum service, these Breaks are not suited for cryogenic or water service, as they are vulnerable to hardware corrosion and thermal embrittlement under those conditions.
