MDC base wells are engineered to streamline vacuum chamber system design by integrating both a baseplate and a feedthrough collar into a single component. This integration eliminates one vacuum seal by replacing it with a permanent vacuum weld, improving reliability and simplifying installation.

Base wells are available in configurations with 4, 8, or 18 radially oriented access ports, each fitted with either a 2-3/4 in (69.9 mm) Conflat® CF metal seal flange or an ISO KF NW40 (40 mm) Kwik-Flange™. These ports accommodate a variety of MDC standard components such as electrical, fluid, and motion feedthroughs.

For connection to the vacuum pumping system, users can select from:

Standard smooth face ASA ANSI flanges
Optional Conflat® CF metal seal flanges
ISO LF bolt-style Large-Flange™ flanges

Gasket seals are not included and must be purchased separately according to the selected flange type.
