MDC’s Coaxial Foreline Traps provide a simple, effective solution for preventing hydrocarbon backstreaming from roughing pumps into vacuum systems. Designed for room temperature operation, these traps require no bakeout or cooling, making them a low-maintenance choice for industrial and research vacuum environments.

Each single-piece trap body houses a permanently sealed bronze wool filter element, which efficiently coalesces and traps oil vapor. As the internal element is non-removable, traps are serviced by swapping out the entire unit, with the used trap cleaned, dried, and reused as needed. Available in 4" (101.6 mm) and 6" (152.4 mm) diameters, these traps are built from robust Type 304 stainless steel for long-lasting performance.

MDC offers seven standard connection sizes with options for hose connections or flange types including Conflat CF (with fixed and rotatable flanges), Kwik-Flange™ ISO KF, and Large-Flange™ ISO LF. Hose fittings may also be welded, though permanent installation should be evaluated based on system requirements. Keeping a spare trap on hand ensures rapid replacement and minimizes system downtime.
