Conventional air-melted ingots are remelted in an EFR unit, where rapid heat extraction eliminates segregation and inhomogeneity. This process reduces inclusions, virtually eliminates brittle oxide stringers, and ensures superior mechanical properties such as enhanced ductility and impact resistance.

The austenitic grade 316LN stainless steel used by MDC Precision contains nominally zero ferrite content, offering remarkably consistent performance in the most demanding ultra-high vacuum (UHV) environments.
