Liquid Nitrogen Feedthroughs are designed to deliver cryogenic cooling (-200°C) into vacuum systems, offering faster cooling rates compared to standard Water Feedthroughs. They are widely used where enhanced cooling capacity is required to protect critical components.

A key challenge with cryogenic cooling is ice buildup, which can compromise the sealing properties of vacuum mounts. MDC solves this by using a double-wall coaxial construction:

A 0.25 inch (6.35 mm) cooling line is inserted and welded to one end of a 0.5 inch (12.7 mm) support tube.
The opposite end of the support tube is welded to the vacuum mount, forming a coaxial vacuum cavity.
This cavity acts as an excellent thermal barrier, preventing ice formation on the air-side of the vacuum mount.

MDC offers Liquid Nitrogen Feedthroughs in three vacuum mount styles:

Conflat CF Flange (ConFlat®, inches/mm)
ISO NW Kwik-Flange (metric NW sizes)
1 inch (25.4 mm) Base Plate

In addition, Liquid Feedthrough Tube Kits are available for direct welding into a custom chamber or flange. Kits are supplied in weld-tube form only (no fittings).

Each vacuum mount feedthrough is constructed with 0.25 inch (6.35 mm) Type 304 stainless steel tubing and comes with a choice of industry-standard fittings:

Weld-Tube: Plain tubes (no fittings).
0.25 inch (6.35 mm) Swagelok® compression fittings.
0.25 inch (6.35 mm) male VCR® metal gasket seal fittings (female nuts and copper gaskets sold separately).
